Hyderabad, June 26 (RAHNUMA): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has appealed to the entire Telugu film industry to record video messages promoting the “Say No to Drugs” campaign as part of their responsibility toward the state’s development.
“If necessary, the government will send officials from the Information and the Cinematography departments to facilitate the recording of these messages and ensure they are widely broadcast across the state,” he said.
Bhatti Vikramarka said that even a short message from film personalities, including heroes, heroines, actors, directors, and character artists, could transform the lives of countless young people.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a special event held at Shilpakala Vedika on Friday on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and the Day Against Human Trafficking.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the entire cabinet are firmly committed to ensuring that not a single person in Telangana falls victim to drug addiction. Bhatti Vikramarka made it clear that there should be no room for the sale or supply of drugs anywhere in the state.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government is taking stringent measures to build a healthy and drug-free youth population.
As part of this effort, a dedicated EAGLE Force has been established to combat narcotics. The government has provided the force with adequate financial resources and vehicles to function effectively. Recognising the risks faced by police personnel working to protect society, the government has also approved special incentives to encourage and support them, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government is conducting extensive awareness campaigns in government and private schools and colleges. The police force is working with unwavering dedication to safeguard society, and anyone found endangering the future of children will face strict action, regardless of their status, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister observed that merely enacting laws is not enough; lasting change must come from society itself. Referring to the Dowry Prohibition Act, he said laws become effective only when society accepts and supports them. Along with counseling in schools and colleges, he urged leaders and celebrities who have a strong influence on society to create awareness through videos and social media posts.
