Union Minister Kishan Reddy holds Padayatra in city

Hyderabad, July 12 (RAHNUMA): Union Minister Kishan Reddy on Sunday held a padayatra (foot march) in the Kachiguda division or his Lok Sabha seat. Speaking on the occasion, he said that he had undertaken an initiative to tour the neighborhoods (*bastis*) within the Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency every Saturday and Sunday. “As part of this, today I visited the neighborhoods across various divisions of the Amberpet Assembly constituency to inquire about and understand the issues faced by local residents. The state Government officials are also accompanying me on this tour. Many roads have been damaged since the onset of the monsoon season. The Neighborhoods are plunged into darkness as streetlights remain non-functional. Despite informing officials about this issue, there is a delay in replacing the faulty lights. Even though the monsoon has arrived, the most remote neighborhoods and households are still not receiving drinking water—a situation similar to the summer months. The People are deeply frustrated by this water scarcity. GHMC and Water Board officials must respond immediately and resolve this issue,” he said.
He stated that the Residents in these neighborhoods were demanding housing and pension facilities . He alleged that the previous government deceived the public by raising false hopes regarding “double-bedroom” houses and added that People were expressing anguish that, despite the Congress government having been in power for nearly three years, the eligible individuals were not receiving pensions and repeated applications had yielded no results.

Reddy said that the public was questioning when the state government would implement promises such as monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 for women, an unemployment allowance of ₹4,000 for unemployed youth and the provision of scooters and gold (one *tulam*) for weddings. “Like the previous BRS government, the current Congress government also equates development solely with Hitech City. This government is ignoring the problems faced by the poor and middle-class residents of areas such as Secunderabad, Amberpet, Sanathnagar, Gowliguda, the Old City and Khairatabad. Hyderabad is not just about Hitech City; the real Hyderabad exists in these neighborhoods. The state government has completely failed to provide basic infrastructure; I urge the officials to respond now and address the people’s hardships,” he said.
