Hyderabad, July 23 (RAHNUMA): Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy questioned why the BRS had not demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over recent controversies.
The Chief Minister also referred to the deaths of 27 Intermediate students during the previous BRS regime, alleging that they resulted from errors in the evaluation of examination papers.
He demanded that BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao prove his integrity in connection with the Globarena issue and apologise for the student deaths.
Speaking during an informal interaction with the media at the Assembly on Thursday, Revanth Reddy said that 70% of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls had been completed across the State.
He alleged that there was a possibility of voters being deleted from the rolls in the name of the revision and said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) had been deployed to prevent such irregularities.
The Chief Minister questioned how people could avail themselves of government welfare schemes if they did not have their names on the voters’ list. He also responded to allegations made by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) that he had votes registered in two places.
“The BRS leaders are alleging that I have two votes. Let them file a complaint. If the complaint is found to be false, I will ensure action is taken against them. I had officially applied to the Collector for the transfer of my voter registration,” Revanth Reddy said.
Referring to the previous revision of electoral rolls, he alleged that all Andhra-origin voters within the GHMC limits had been removed. He said the Congress had approached the court over the issue, following which the court expressed displeasure with the then GHMC Commissioner.
The Chief Minister said the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) was functioning effectively and had recovered several encroached properties.
Launching a fresh attack on the previous BRS government, Revanth Reddy alleged that quality standards were completely compromised in the construction of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. He claimed that BRS leader T. Harish Rao was sidelined by former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for some time and was not given a ministerial berth due to allegations of corruption in the project.
Revanth Reddy further alleged that internal conflicts were surfacing among Telangana BJP leaders. He accused BRS leaders of selling double bedroom houses meant for the poor through middlemen and challenged KT Rama Rao to seek an inquiry into the Janwada farmhouse land issue.
The Chief Minister also said that his government had reopened the Dharna Chowk at Indira Park after coming to power, recalling that it had been closed during the previous BRS regime. “Ironically, KTR now wants to stage protests at the very Dharna Chowk that his own government had shut down,” he remarked.
