Hyderabad, Sept.6 (RAHNUMA): Three individuals have been selected this year for the Ponnam Sattaiah Lifetime Achievement Awards presented annually by the Ponnam Sattaiah Charitable Trust in memory of Ponnam Sattaiah, who is the father of State Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
The Trust Vice-President Ponnam Ashok Goud announced that M. Kodanda Reddy, the Chairman of the State Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Commission recognized for his significant contributions to agriculture, Velichala Kondala Rao (literature) and Gotte Kanakavva (arts) had been chosen for this year’s awards. The selection was made by a jury committee led by Convener Dr. Ponnam Ravichandra. The committee, which included former Central Information Commissioner Madabhushi Sridhar, prominent journalist Dileep Reddy, Civil Supplies Director G.V. Shyam Prasad Lal, BC Study Circle Director Mamidi Harikrishna and writer Ainampudi Srilakshmi, submitted the list of awardees today to the Charitable Trust Chairman, Ponnam Prabhakar. Over the past four years, the Ponnam Sattayya Lifetime Achievement Awards have been presented to Naleswaram Sankaram, Nalimela Bhaskar, Chandrabose and Ampasayya Naveen in the field of literature, and to Oggu Dharmayya, Comrade Vimalakka, Balagam Komuramma, and Antadupula Ramadevi in the field of arts.
Ashok Goud, while starting this year, the agricultural sector has also been included in the scope of these awards and for the first time, an award was being presented to an individual, who has rendered distinguished service in this field. Ponnam Ashok Goud announced that a special program would be held at Ravindra Bharati on the 13th of this month at 2:00 PM to mark the 16th death anniversary of Ponnam Sattayya.
He revealed that the three individuals selected for the awards would receive a cash prize of ₹50,000, along with a memento and a certificate of appreciation. He stated that the primary objective of these awards was to recognize and honor talented individuals, who are rendering distinguished service to society across various fields, thereby upholding the ideals of Ponnam Sattayya.
