Hyderabad, Aug.9 (NSS): The Drug Discovery & Development Workshop, a cornerstone event hosted by the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations, University of Hyderabad and Science Gurus, continued to unveil groundbreaking methodologies in pharmaceutical research on its ninth day. Today’s sessions, heavily focused on the application of computational tools and AI in drug discovery, showcased influential speakers and provided hands-on experiences to attendees.
Dr Rami Reddy Mutyala, CEO & Chairman of Rational Labs inaugurated the day with a riveting discussion on the shortcomings of traditional drug discovery methods. He detailed how Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) has been pivotal in advancing research, particularly highlighting its applications in Type-2 Diabetes and HIV treatments. Dr. Ramireddy emphasized the integration of quantum mechanics and AI to enhance the drug design process.
Dr Nirthin Devi Reddy, Founder and CEO of In Silico Minds, introduced the audience to state-of-the-art Insilico modeling and clinical trial tools. His lecture underscored the significance of FDA regulations in Model-informed Drug Development (MIDD) and the transformative role of AI in pharmaceutical development.
Dr Pranav Karmwar, CSO at InSilicoMinds, took the stage to elaborate on the practical applications of AI and ML in streamlining drug approvals. His discussion on mathematical modeling and formulation optimization, especially through virtual bioequivalence studies, engaged many budding researchers and professionals in the field.
The day’s practical segment led by the Schrödinger team demonstrated the powerful capabilities of Schrödinger’s Biologics software suite. Attendees were given the opportunity to directly engage with the tools, gaining insights into their practical applications in biologics engineering, a crucial area in therapeutic development. The Drug Discovery & Development Workshop continues to foster an environment of innovation and collaboration among the scientific community, bridging the gap between traditional methods and futuristic technologies in drug discovery.
