Khammam, Aug.9 (NSS): “Instead of accepting the blunder committed in Sunkishala project and tendering an apology to people, it is not proper for BRS MLA K T Ramarao to attack Congress government,” said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, the Deputy Chief Minister said the State government would order an inquiry to ascertain the quality of all the projects on Krishna River taken up during the time of BRS government in the wake of Sunkishala incident.
The Kaleshwaram and Sunkishala projects were constructed under the BRS government rule. The Kaleshwaram project got sunk even before water was released and Sunkishala project’s shoddy work got exposed after water was released.
What would a project constructed at Nagarjuna Sagar death storage get if not water? “ Was it not under your government the retaining wall for Sunkishala project was built?”, Bhatti questioned the BRS leaders.
“Though the Congress party warned that the location for construction of Medigadda, Sundilla and Annaram barrages was not proper, the BRS government went ahead with the construction without heeding to its advice. Now every one is witness to the devastating results of BRS decisions, the Deputy Chief Minister alleged.
“The Kaleshwaram project got sunk as former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao rejected the expert advice of engineers and took his own decisions.
KCR in his arrogance did not allow engineers to do their job and forced them to implement his decisions. That was why Medigedda barrage pillars had sunk,” he pointed out.
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the Congress government which is determined to expose the corruption and inferior quality of construction of projects taken up under the BRS govt, has no reason to suppress Sunkishala incident.
“The BRS government in the name of redesign of projects commenced by the Congress government had destroyed the irrigation department and looted the treasury by redesigning Rajiv, Indira Sagar projects that would have been completed with Rs 1,450 crore and increased the estimates to Rs 23,000 crore. It had spent Rs 8,000 crore on Sitarama project, but failed to provide water to even one acre,” Bhatti alleged.
“After Congress party came to power, to prevent wastage of funds already spent on Sitarama project, they with the advice of engineers proposed Rajiv Gandhi Link canal. The link canal was taken up at a cost of Rs 75 crore to release water to 1.5 lakh acres in three months. It is the sincerity and commitment of Congress govt to complete link canal in three months and provide water to the farmers. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inaugurare the Rajiv Link Canal at Wyra town on August 15,” he added.
Bhatti reiterated that the State government is committed to complete the implementation of farmers’ loan waiver by August 15.
