BJP used kids in poll campaign, police ignored EC rules: Niranjan

Hyderabad, June 3 (NSS)G. Niranjan, TPCC Sr. Vice-President & Chairman, Election Commission Coordination Committee today said despite the Election Commission directions issued on February 5, 2024, not to use children in any election campaign, including rallies, slogan shouting, distribution of posters or pamphlets or any other election related activity, the children were present in the rally and on the dais in which Amit Shah participated. One of the children was seen carrying the BJP symbol and giving slogans.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Niranjan said the rally took place on May 1 from Lal Darwaza to Sudha Talkies Bela in Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. A complaint was made to EC and CEO in this regard with photo clipping of the dais. He said the CEO directed the DEO of Hyderabad to enquiry into the facts and to send a detailed report immediately.

He said on May 2, the Mogulpura PS registered an FIR with the names of the alleged accused T. Yaman Singh, Kompella Madhavi Latha, Amit Shah, G. Kishan Singh and T. Raja Singh. Niranjan said it was surprising on June 1, 2024, Mogulpura Police Inspector sent a notice u/s 173 (2) by a registered post to me informing that based upon the material evidence the accused persons are T. Yaman Singh, Kompella Madhavi Latha and T. Raja Singh. The involvement of others Amit Shah and Kishan Reddy was not established. Hence, their names were deleted from the case and filed charge-sheet.

Niranjan said, “It is unfortunate the police were trying to cover and save Union ministers Amit Shah and Kishan Reddy in the case. The violation is made openly and in the presence of top police officials, who are in the Bundobusth duty for the Amit Shah meeting. In such meetings, there will be shadow teams and flying squads from Election Commission.

The entire program would be video graphed by the concerned Returning
Officers. We request the Election Commission to enquire and investigate the process of the concerned police officers as they are trying to mislead the Election Commission”, he added. (NSS)
