Hyderabad, Oct.7 (NSS): BRS party today demanded that the State government pay bonus and MSP to all types of paddy crops of the State. Former MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy today wrote an open letter to CM Revanth Reddy on the issue.
In his letter, he reminded the CM that the Congress party promised to pay bonus to all crops in the last assembly elections and added that the party had added ₹500 MSP to the then paddy crop price of ₹2183 per quintal and included it in its manifesto. He said although the MSP was meant for the coarse variety of the rice, the State government extended the bonus benefit only to fine quality of rice. He alleged that the State government was cheating the farmers in the name of the payment of the bonus to fine quality rice and added that it was purchasing only 47 lakh metric tonnes of paddy instead of 14628000 metric tonnes of paddy.
Stating that the MSP price of the paddy after including the bonus is ₹2820 per quintal, he said the farmers would incur a loss of ₹200 if they sold their produce at the government procurement centres.
