Hyderabad, Sept.9 (RAHNUMA): Congress MLC and Whip Addanki Dayakar launched a scathing attack on the BRS, alleging that the party had acted against Dalit interests and demanded an explanation from former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao over a reported purification ritual following a Dalit programme at his residence.
Dayakar said Dalit organisations had staged a “Chavu Dappu” (funeral drum) protest at KCR’s residence and asked him to introspect over the reasons behind the protest.
Calling the BRS an “anti-Dalit party”, Dayakar alleged that the incident amounted to treating Dalits as untouchables and demanded that the Election Commission consider derecognising the party. He said Dalits would work to politically eliminate the BRS from Telangana.
Targeting BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, Dayakar accused him of resorting to “cheap politics” and attempting to create divisions in society for electoral gains. He also alleged that BRS leaders had behaved disrespectfully towards women police personnel during protests on Monday.
Dayakar demanded that KCR apologise for the alleged purification ritual before attending the Assembly. He said that if KCR had not ordered the incident, he should publicly clarify who was responsible.
