Hyderabad, Aug.9 (NSS): In an effort to raise awareness, conserve and use water resources in an integrated manner, the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India is organizing the 8th India Water Week-2024 (IWW-2024) from September 17 to 20 at New Delhi. As part of the programme, a curtain raiser event was held today at CGO Towers, Kavadiguda, Secunderabad. Mukesh Kumar Sinha, Chairman Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) inaugurated the event.
Addressing the event, M.K Sinha said the upcoming event of 8th India Water Week-2024 at New Delhi will be of International Standards and the theme for IWW-2024 is “Partnerships and Cooperation for Inclusive Water Development and Management. He also said the main objective of the program is to provide a forum for various stakeholders working in the water sector, including policy makers, water managers, professionals from different sections of the society to discuss all water related issues.
Bhopal Singh, Director General, National Water Development Authority (NWDA) gave an over view on IWW – 2024 event. Addressing the event, he said India water week event is a combination of India and International arena to bring on board water related issues in a broader way and arriving solutions by building consensus with the states. As such Ken- Betwa intra state link which was bought into reality in between the states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh by granting the Central financial assistance for bringing the drought area of Bundelkhand into utilization. He also said that NWDA is constantly pursuing the states for implementation of interlinking of rivers in India.
Atul Jain, Chairman Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and Chief Executive officer, Polavaram Project Authority, (PPA) said that the Government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have already conveyed their consent and participation in the coming up IWW 2024 event. After the inauguration of event, several stake holders /water related Industries interacted with DG, NWDA, other dignitaries and cleared their queries.
