Congress wins in Cantonment Assembly by-election

Hyderabad, June 4 (NSS): Congress candidate Narayanan Sri Ganesh has emerged victorious in Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly by-election.

He won with a majority of 9,725 votes against rival BRS candidate Nivedita.  Lasya Nandita contested as a BRS candidate from Cantonment in the general election held in 2023 and was elected as an MLA. However, she died in a road accident in February.

The tragic death of Lasya made the by-election inevitable for the Cantonment Assembly segment.

Sri Ganesh contested as an MLA from BJP in 2018 and 2023 Assembly elections, but he was unsuccessful. Later, he joined the Congress and secured the party ticket for the by-election. (NSS)
