GHMC food safety wing conducts inspections across parks, schools

Hyderabad, May 3 (RAHNUMA): On the 59th day of the 99-day action plan, officials within the GHMC Commissionerate organised a targeted initiative on Sunday to ensure food safety in locations commonly visited by children.

This effort, led by the food safety division of GHMC, focused on inspecting areas such as school grounds, playgrounds, GHMC parks, and bakeries that children often frequent.

The food safety wing carried out a total of 81 inspections across parks, school premises, food courts and bakeries.

During the inspections, the Food Business Operators (FBOs) were educated on critical food safety and hygiene parameters such as proper labelling of packaged raw materials, proper storage and preservation of food articles, and pest control measures along with their related records to be maintained.

Further, the food safety officers have lifted suspicious food samples for laboratory analysis under the FSS Act, 2006, and a total of 14 notices will be issued to the Food Business Operators for the violations identified during the inspections, with strict instructions given to all FBOs to adhere to the FSS norms and ensure compliance going forward.
