Hyderabad, May 23 (RAHNUMA): Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla stated that a healthy society forms the foundation of a strong nation and observed that the Union government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is according the highest priority to strengthening the healthcare sector in the country.
The Governor was addressing the Healthcare Excellence Awards programme organised by Zee Telugu News in Hyderabad on Saturday, where he participated as the chief guest.
On the occasion, the Governor felicitated doctors who have rendered distinguished service in the healthcare sector and congratulated them by presenting mementoes.
In his address, Shukla referred to the Indian ethos of “Vaidyo Narayano Harihi” and said that doctors, nurses and healthcare workers not only treat illnesses but also instil hope and confidence among people.
Noting that India has made significant strides in healthcare services, medical research and innovation, the Governor said Telangana, particularly Hyderabad, has emerged as a major hub for world-class hospitals, advanced medical technologies and pharmaceutical industries.
He stated that flagship initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, establishment of new AIIMS institutions, medical colleges and the Digital Health Mission, being implemented under the leadership of the Prime Minister, are further strengthening the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
The Governor also called upon citizens to extend their support to the Centre’s Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.
Recalling Hyderabad’s contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shukla said the development of Covaxin stood as a testimony to India’s scientific capabilities and commitment to self-reliance.
He urged young doctors to embrace compassion, ethics and humanity alongside professional excellence as the core values of their profession. The Governor congratulated the award recipients, healthcare institutions and organisers for their efforts.
