HYD HOSTS GLOBAL URO-ONCOLOGY SUMMIT

Hyderabad, Aug.1 (RAHNUMA): Hyderabad emerged as the hub of global uro-oncology research with the commencement of SOGOCON 2026, the fifth annual conference of the Society of Genitourinary Oncologists, bringing together over 200 leading cancer specialists from India and abroad to discuss the latest advances in precision cancer care.

The two-day conference, hosted by Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI) in association with Apollo Hospitals, is centred on the theme “Precision Oncology in Action”. The scientific sessions focus on innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular and penile cancers through precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, robotic surgery, advanced radiation therapy, targeted treatments, immunotherapy and multidisciplinary care.

The conference was inaugurated by Nara Brahmani, trust board member of BIACH&RI, who highlighted the growing importance of precision oncology in delivering personalised, evidence-based cancer treatment. She said the future of cancer care lies in integrating genomics, molecular diagnostics, artificial intelligence and targeted therapies while ensuring compassionate patient care. She also praised the hospital’s uro-oncology team led by Dr Rakesh M Sharma for its pioneering work in precision oncology.

Organising Secretary Dr Sanjai Addla said the conference serves as a vital platform for scientific exchange, multidisciplinary collaboration and the adoption of evidence-based practices in uro-oncology. Dr. Rakesh M. Sharma, scientific chairman of the conference, noted that collaboration between BIACH&RI and Apollo Hospitals would help translate global research into better patient outcomes across India.

A key attraction of the conference is the participation of internationally acclaimed experts including Noel Clarke, Manish Kohli, John Christodouleas, Anne Schuckman and Alejandro Berlin, reflecting the conference’s growing international stature.

The event was preceded by specialised workshops on uro-radiation oncology and uro-pathology, providing young oncologists and postgraduate trainees with hands-on training in the latest diagnostic and treatment techniques.

By hosting SOGOCON 2026, BIACH&RI has reinforced Hyderabad’s reputation as a leading destination for advanced cancer care, while providing a global platform for research, innovation and scientific collaboration in precision oncology.
