Vancouver (Canada), Aug.1 (RAHNUMA): In a major step towards strengthening digital higher education, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) signed a landmark partnership agreement with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) to advance digital education, artificial intelligence and technology-enabled learning.
The agreement was signed by Vice-Chancellor Prof Ghanta Chakrapani and COL President and CEO Peter Scott in the presence of Venkatesh Dhotre, Special Secretary, Department of Education, Government of Telangana.
Prof. Chakrapani described the partnership as a transformative initiative that would accelerate BRAOU’s journey towards becoming a globally recognised AI-enabled digital university. The collaboration will facilitate the development of open educational resources, research, faculty mentoring, international knowledge exchange and technology-driven learning systems. “This collaboration brings cutting-edge global expertise, advanced digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and international best practices to BRAOU”, the VC noted.
Prof. Peter Scott praised BRAOU’s digital transformation initiatives, saying the university is emerging as a model for the future of digital higher education. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would strengthen AI-enabled open and distance learning across India and the Commonwealth.
The agreement operationalises the Memorandum of Understanding signed between BRAOU and COL in November 2025 and outlines a detailed implementation roadmap. The partnership will focus on three key areas—digital transformation through a comprehensive learning technology ecosystem, capacity building for faculty and staff, and the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching, research and learner support through collaborative projects and multilingual AI applications.
Prof. Kumar Molugaram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, Prof. Rabindranath Solomon, Prof. Pallavi Kabde, and senior officials of the Commonwealth of Learning were presented at the MoU signing ceremony.
