Komatireddy hails Ambedkar’s Constitution as Brahmastra for poor

Nalgonda, April 14 (RAHNUMA): Describing the Constitution as a powerful safeguard for the underprivileged, Roads & Buildings, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday said the document drafted by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar remains a ‘Brahmastra in the hands of the poor’.

Participating in the 135th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Ambedkar, the Minister unveiled bronze statues of Dr. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram at Tipparti Junction in Nalgonda district.

The statues were installed at a cost of ₹70 lakh under the Roads & Buildings department. He also inaugurated junction beautification works taken up at an expenditure of ₹10.75 crore.

Addressing a public meeting, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said Dr. Ambedkar championed universal education and women’s voting rights, stressing that education is the foundation for empowerment and progress and urged people to follow Ambedkar’s ideals and access to quality education must remain their top priority.

Highlighting government initiatives, the Minister said integrated residential schools are being established in each constituency with an outlay of ₹200 crore.

In Nalgonda, the facility coming up at SLBC Colony is expected to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister by December-end. Plans are also underway to establish a public school in every constituency, with transport facilities for students and provision for both Telugu and English medium instruction in government schools, he said.

On development works in Tipparti mandal, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said 135 double-bedroom houses have been allotted, while another 100 units have been sanctioned and will be distributed shortly.

Komatireddy said efforts would be made to secure additional housing under the next phase of Indiramma scheme and to obtain ₹10 crore for drainage works in the mandal. He added that canal lining works under AMRP, taken up at ₹450 crore, would ensure irrigation to tail-end lands.

Speaking to the media, the Minister reiterated support for women’s reservation in legislatures while cautioning against any regional imbalance that could disadvantage southern states.
