Medak Fort should be developed as major tourist destination: Vivek

Medak, Aug.17 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Labour, Mines and Geology Dr. G. Vivek Venkataswamy unveiled a special postal cover dedicated to the Medak Fort on Monday.

On the occasion, the Minister congratulated the Postal department for recognising the historical significance of the Medak Fort and releasing a special postal cover.

He said that with Medak now serving as a district headquarters, there is a need to develop the Medak Fort into a prominent tourist destination.

“As the fort is a heritage property, necessary clearances must be obtained from the Central government. There is an opportunity to secure funds from the Union Ministry of Tourism through MP Raghunandan Rao.,” Vivek said.

“Funds should be allocated by combining central grants with a matching contribution from the State Government,” he added.

In a lighter vein, Dr. Vivek Venkataswamy remarked that walking up the fort is akin to a cost-free and effective workout.

Recalling that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had previously sanctioned ₹30 crore for the development of the Medak Church, the Minister suggested that Medak should be transformed into a full-fledged tourism hub.

Medak MP Raghunandan Rao, MLA Mynampally Rohit, other elected representatives and officials were also present.
