Hyderabad, June 21 (RAHNUMA): The Hyderabad Traffic Police on Sunday conducted a second one-way trial run around KBR Park in the Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills areas as part of the Hyderabad City Innovative & Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITY) project. The City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar personally inspected the site during the trial run, which was organized in view of the ongoing steel flyover and underpass construction works. Accompanied by Traffic Joint CP Joel Davis DCP Kajal , Jubilee Hills Zone DCP Ramana Reddy and other officials, he visited key junctions—including the KBR Park main gate, Basavatarakam Hospital, Agrasen Junction, Film Nagar and the route via Road No. 45 up to Jubilee Hills Checkpost—to monitor vehicular movement.
Speaking on the occasion, V.C. Sajjanar stated that the trial run was conducted with an eye on the anticipated increase in vehicular traffic in the future. He emphasized that the primary objective is to find a permanent solution to traffic issues. He recalled that the first trial run had previously been conducted for two hours on April 5th (a Sunday). He stated that appropriate precautions have been taken to prevent the recurrence of issues observed previously. He noted that the current second one-way trial run is being conducted based on that experience.
The Commissioner of Police clarified that this trial run would continue only until 8 PM on Sunday, with vehicular movement returning to normal from Monday morning. He revealed that they were continuously monitoring any difficulties arising during the trial run.
The CP explained that approximately seven flyovers and seven underpasses were planned for the KBR Park vicinity. He acknowledged that while this new one-way system slightly increases travel distance, it ensures smooth travel without traffic jams. He noted that some confusion arises when motorists suddenly change lanes. He urged them to strictly adhere to police advisories and signage.
He mentioned that measures were being taken to expedite pending civil works on the roads and that coordination was being maintained with hospitals along the route. He assured that adequate arrangements would be made to ensure the unhindered movement of ambulances.
The Traffic Joint CP Joel Davis stated that some difficulties were observed where vehicles changed lanes during the trial run. He added that appropriate precautions would be taken when implementing this system permanently. It was announced that a 150-meter ‘interchange’ area would be created between the Checkpost and KBR Park to facilitate easy lane changes for vehicles. He stated that a study involving experts is underway regarding the installation of pedestrian signals at the Checkpost and KBR Park to ensure safe road crossings. He explained that traffic patterns at these junctions are currently being continuously monitored using drones. He clarified that permanent changes would be implemented only after gathering comprehensive data. He urged the public and motorists to cooperate with the traffic police to ensure the city’s progress and smooth traffic flow.
