
Hyderabad, April 27 (RAHNUMA): Dr. Soumya Mishra, the Director General of Prisons in Telangana, made an official visit to the Warangal district on Monday.
During her visit, she opened important facilities and carried out thorough inspections, demonstrating the department’s ongoing dedication to rehabilitation, welfare, and the modernisation of prison management.
The DG Prisons inaugurated the 32nd “My Nation” filling station of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Khanapur, Narsampet. The initiative is aimed at providing structured and sustainable livelihood opportunities to reformed and released prisoners, thereby facilitating their reintegration into society.
Addressing the gathering, she emphasised that such initiatives symbolise not just economic activity, but also hope, dignity, and second chances.
She appreciated Indian Oil Corporation for its valuable partnership in advancing inclusive and socially responsible initiatives. Following this, Soumya Mishra visited the Special Prison for Women (SPW), Narsampet, where she conducted a comprehensive inspection of the institution.
She reviewed critical aspects including security arrangements, inmate welfare, food quality, healthcare services, and hygiene conditions.
The DG also interacted with women inmates, enquired about their well-being, and encouraged them to actively participate in rehabilitation and skill development programmes, stressing the importance of a humane and reform-oriented correctional environment.
Subsequently, she proceeded to the Central Prison, Warangal (Mamnoor), where she inaugurated the newly constructed administrative building.
The new facility is expected to enhance administrative efficiency and strengthen the overall infrastructure of the prison. During her visit, she reviewed the functioning of the institution and emphasised the need for continuous improvements in security, modernisation, and welfare measures.
The visit highlights the Telangana prisons department’s progressive approach towards balancing custodial responsibilities with reformative and rehabilitative efforts, transforming prisons into centres of positive change and opportunity.
