Hyderabad, Aug.7 (RAHNUMA): Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Friday called upon the people to support the handloom sector by embracing the spirit of “Vocal for Local – Local to Global” and promoting indigenous textiles.
Greeting handloom weavers, artisans and their families on National Handloom Day, NRR said the occasion revived the spirit of Swadeshi movement and celebrated the exceptional craftsmanship of millions of Indian weavers. Telangana has a rich handloom heritage, with Narayanpet, Kothakota, Gadwal, Pochampally and Sircilla earning international recognition for their distinctive textiles, he noted.
The BJP leader urged people to promote Indian handloom products and help take them to global markets. He also appealed to citizens to voluntarily purchase and wear handloom clothes, saying such support would strengthen the livelihoods of thousands of weaving families. “Vocal for Local – Local to Global” should become a collective movement to protect India’s traditional arts and strengthen the handloom economy, he added.
