Hyderabad, Aug.7 (RAHNUMA): Telangana has emerged as the top-performing state in the country in cybercrime control in the PMO-led PRAGATI review, securing the No. 1 position among States and Union Territories across nine key performance parameters.
Director General of Police C.V. Anand congratulated Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) Director Shikha Goel, Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police and the entire bureau staff for their exemplary performance.
The assessment covered cybercrime prevention, investigation, victim assistance, inter-state coordination, capacity building and public awareness. Telangana was the first state to establish a dedicated Cyber Security Bureau under the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (S4C).
The State registered 49 e-Zero FIRs in cyber fraud cases involving Rs.5 lakh and above. It achieved 88 percent performance in grievance redressal and 81 percent in facilitating the restoration of defrauded money to victims. Telangana also recorded 88 percent utilisation of the SAHYOG portal for removing unlawful online content.
Under the SAMANVAY initiative, the State completed 97 percent of CIAR requests and 79 percent of inter-state requests, uploaded 5,500 criminal profiles and identified 15,000 inter-State criminal linkages. As part of capacity building, 524 police personnel were given access to the CyTrain platform.
Telangana was also not among the 15 major cybercrime hotspot states identified nationally. Cyber safety awareness programmes reached more than 8.5 lakh people, while another two lakh citizens were sensitised about digital arrest frauds.
DGP C.V. Anand said the recognition reflected the professionalism, dedication and coordinated efforts of the TGCSB team. He expressed confidence that Telangana Police would continue to set national benchmarks in technology-driven policing and strengthen its fight against cybercrime through innovation, enforcement and public awareness.
