Suresh Gopi urges students to champion cleanliness & Environmental protection

Hyderabad, July 14 (RAHNUMA): Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas Suresh Gopi on Tuesday urged the students to become ambassadors of cleanliness and environmental conservation, describing Swachhta as a culture of personal responsibility and public participation rather than just a campaign.

Addressing the Swachhta Pakhwada programme jointly organised by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) at the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Centre for Excellence in Hyderabad, the Union Minister said the Swachh Bharat Mission under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has evolved into a nationwide people’s movement. He called upon students to maintain clean campuses, conserve natural resources, shun single-use plastics and actively protect the environment.

Appreciating the collaborative efforts of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), along with Reliance Industries Limited and Nayara Energy, he said such initiatives demonstrate the commitment of the energy sector towards nation-building beyond its core responsibilities.

Participating in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive, Gopi planted a sapling and distributed plants to students, urging every family to plant and nurture trees for a greener future. He also lauded the efforts of IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, Reliance Industries and Nayara Energy for extending their role beyond energy security through social and environmental initiatives. Emphasising the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, he said every citizen must contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and healthier India.
