Khammam, Sept 8 ( NSS): With the Khammam district has been experiencing relentless heavy rainfall for the last one week, which has resulted in severe flooding, submerging low-lying areas and causing immense hardship to residents, Union Minister for coals and mines and Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Kishan Reddy on Sunday visited the flood-affected areas in the district.
On the occasion, Kishan Reddy reassured the victims that the Union government would stand firmly by their side and would extend all the necessary support. He also issued key directives to his secretary to send a central team to assess the damage and provide immediate relief.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy separately visited the rain-affected areas in Khammam district and monitored the relief operations at the field level, promising that the State government would provide assistance to the victims.
Bhatti Vikramarka said their primary focus is on saving lives and minimizing the loss of properties as much as possible.
On the other hand, Minister Ponguleti urged the central government to recognise the Telangana disaster as a national calamity. He mentioned that on the day the floods began, PM Modi had called Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, assuring him of the central government’s full support.
Ponguleti further criticised the BRS leaders, accusing them of exploiting the situation for political gain instead of helping those in distress. He condemned the opposition for focusing on politics rather than extending a helping hand to the affected people.
