Hyderabad, Sept.10 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Thursday assured the Legislative Council that the long-delayed Uppal–Narapally Elevated Corridor would be completed and thrown open to the public by next June under all circumstances.
Responding to queries raised by Leader of the Opposition Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary and members Teenmar Mallanna and Pingili Sripal Reddy, the Minister admitted that the project—initially launched in 2017–18—had stalled due to severe operational hurdles. However, he emphasised that the Congress government has taken proactive measures to clear the bottlenecks and accelerate construction.
Explaining the delay, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy noted that the primary contractor had approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). A secondary agency brought in midway to execute the project also failed to deliver. The state government, with the intervention of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has since coordinated with Gayatri Projects to resume and fast-track the work, he said.
“This is not an ordinary flyover; it is a massive elevated corridor serving as a vital lifeline,” the Minister said, highlighting its strategic role in connecting Hyderabad to Warangal, AIIMS Bibinagar, Bhongir, and Jangaon.
He added that BT road renewals and surface repairs under the flyover are complete, and round-the-clock construction is currently underway. A high-level review was conducted three days ago with the Chief Engineer and National Highways Regional Office officials to streamline logistics and ensure timely payments to the contractor.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy assured the House that despite earlier delays that pushed back the initial Dasara deadline, the corridor will strictly meet its revised target of June.
