Uttam responds positively to concerns of Narlapur Reservoir displaced families

Hyderabad, Sept.9 (NSS): Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy has assured that necessary steps will be taken to address the concerns of Narlapur Reservoir displaced families.

The displaced family members of Narlapur Reservoir led by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao met Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy at Jalasoudha here on Monday and brought their problems to his notice.

Jupally Krishna Rao explained that the residents lost their land and homes due to submersion as part of the Palamuru Ranga Reddy project and requested that compensation for 117 displaced families from Sunnapu Thanda, Doolyanayak Thanda, Anjanagiri Thanda, and Vadde Gudshelu villages within the Bodabanda Thanda Gram Panchayat be disbursed under G.O. 120 instead of G.O. 123, as the latter would lead to financial losses for the victims.

Jupally said despite relocating the residents of Ellur and Narlapur, who were affected by the project, to safer areas, they have not yet received their compensation. He insisted that immediate action be taken to ensure they receive their due payments.

The Tourism Minister also highlighted that the State government had previously allocated survey numbers 622 and 623 in Ellur Revenue for the creation of a resettlement colony under the Narlapur Reservoir. However, the previous administration shifted the project to survey numbers 371–376. He requested that the colony be reinstated in its original location.

Further, Jupally Krishna Rao stressed the need to relocate the remaining families from Bodabanda Thanda to safer areas and provide them with the resettlement package, similar to other displaced individuals. He also sought housing rights for residents in Bollaram forest land and asked for alternative land allocation to the Forest department.

Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy responded positively, assuring swift action and directed Special Secretary for Irrigation, Prashant Jeevan Patil, to take necessary steps to address the displaced families’ concerns.
