Hyderabad, July 10 (NSS): Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao has urged his party high command to consider his name for the Rajya Sabha Member.
Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, V Hanumantha Rao said that it would be very happy if he was given a chance for the Rajya Sabha Member, which was vacated by the resignation of K Kesha Rao, who has recently joined the Congress.
Expressing the regret over injustice that was done to him in the matter of giving the party ticket in the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress leader said that he would have won as Secunderabad MP if the party had given a ticket to him in the recently held Parliament elections.
“The party high command should give an opportunity for me because I did not have a single post in the last eight years,” VH said.
He stated that the Kurian Committee formed by AICC is coming to Telangana to study the failures of the Congress party during the recently held Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.
V Hanumantha Rao also extended thanks to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for announcing a residential plot and government job to cricketer Mohammed Siraj, who is a member of T20 world cup winning team.
“I recognized the talent of Siraj in his early days of career and felicitated him once. There is a good craze for cricket in India, but there is no cricket stadium in Telangana except Hyderabad,” VH said.
He further stated that there are 12 cricket stadiums in Andhra Pradesh, but there are no facilities in Telangana.
“I request the Chief Minister to allocate adequate land for the construction of stadiums in each district of Telangana and promote sports in a big way. As the Chief Minister is also a young person, he should encourage the youth in the field of sports,” VH added. (NSS)
