Hyderabad, Oct.9 (NSS): The World Telugu Information Technology Council (WTITC) has called for a balanced approach to the U.S. government’s decision to suspend PERM labour-certification processing for eight major technology companies, highlighting the need to balance domestic employment priorities with global talent mobility.
WTITC Chairman Sundeep Kumar Makthala said countries have the right to protect their workforces and enforce immigration laws, while stressing that technology and innovation depend on international talent and cross-border collaboration.
He noted that the suspension could create uncertainty for affected professionals but does not automatically cancel existing H-1B visas or mean that all employees will lose their jobs.
Makthala called for transparent, evidence-based investigations into compliance concerns, cautioning against generalising allegations against individual employers to the wider technology sector. He also highlighted the implications for Telugu professionals from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh working in global technology and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
WTITC, which connects 2,843 companies across 63 countries, reaffirmed its commitment to international business partnerships and technology cooperation. Makthala urged India to strengthen domestic capabilities in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, advanced engineering and research while maintaining constructive engagement with the United States and other global markets.
