Hyderabad, Oct.13 (NSS): Former minister and Siddipet MLA Harishri Rao has objected to the appointment of rebel BRS party MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy as chief whip of the State Legislative Council and termed it as unconstitutional. He asked the State government to which party did Patnam Mahender Reddy belong to? Harish Rao spoke on the issue in an informal interaction with media.
Speaking on the occasion, he questioned as to how Mahender Reddy of the BRS party was given the post of the chief whip of the State government? He said a disqualification petition was already pending with the legislative council chairman against Mahender Reddy. “The bulletin issued appointing Mahender Reddy as the chief whip of the legislative council has further strengthened our disqualification petition,” he said.
Harish Rao said the latest issue too would be included as evidence in the disqualification petition. “Mahender Reddy hoisted the national flag on September 17 this year. However, the bulletin issued by the State government stated that he was continuing in the post of the MLC since March 15 this year. “We will write a letter to the chief secretary in this regard.” he said, adding that he would also write to the Governor of the State. He alleged that the State government was also misleading the Governor on the issue.
He said the appointment of Mahender Reddy as chief whip was an example of how the Constitution was being violated under the Congress rule. Harish Rao criticized the Congress government for acting in the same way in the case of the appointment of the PAC chairman.
