
Hyderabad, June 21 (RAHNUMA): The Telangana Sangeet Natak Akademi will host a three-day national dance festival, “Ardhanariswaram”, at Ravindra Bharathi from June 22 to 24 as part of the State government’s 100 days of public governance celebrations.
According a statement here on Sunday, Telangana Sangeet Natak Akademi president Dr. Alekhya Punjala said the festival, conceived around the theme of Ardhanariswaram, will bring together renowned senior and young artistes from across India. Performances will begin daily at 5 pm.
The festival will be inaugurated on June 22 by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Tourism & Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. The event will felicitate Telangana recipients of the recently announced Sangeet Natak Akademi awards: The recipients are – Voleti Rangamani (Contribution to dance arts), Rajeshwari Sainath (Bharatanatyam), Durishetti Ramaiah (Folk – Kaddi) and D. Srinivas (Music – Veena)
Recipients of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar to be honoured include: Satvika Penna, Peri Thyagaraju and Ajay Srinivas Chakraborty.
As for the festival highlights, on June 22 – performances by Kuchipudi duo Surendra Nath and Bijina, followed by “Samarpanam” by Waseem Raja and “Adharva” by Ayana Manojna Balaraju and troupe ; June 23 – presentations include “Ekam Devayam” by Pavitra Bhatt and Aparna Shastri, “Sabhapati” by Vasant Kiran, and Bharatanatyam recital “Nritya Kadambam” by Vaishnavi Sainath. Telangana Prisons DG Soumya Mishra and Padma Shri awardee Ananda Shankar Jayant will attend as guests of honour ; June 24 – the concluding day will feature performances by Bengaluru artistes Nidhaga Karunal and Rachna Karanik, followed by “Ravana” by Surya N. Rao and troupe, and Kuchipudi presentation “Ishana” by Yamini Reddy.
Padma Shri awardee Deepika Reddy and Anuradha Jonnalagadda will participate in the valedictory session.
Dr. Alekhya Punjala invited art enthusiasts to attend the festival in large numbers. She also announced essay-writing competitions for students on the performances, with prizes to be awarded for the best reviews.
