Hyderabad, July 4 (RAHNUMA): In a major setback to Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has rejected the name of her newly floated party, the ‘Telangana Rakshana Sena’ (TRS). Citing an outpouring of public opposition, the regulatory body issued explicit directives stating that the acronym ‘TRS’ cannot be retained.
The ECI has given Kavitha a 15-day window to propose three alternative names for her political outfit, warning that failure to comply will result in the outright rejection of her party registration application. According to sources, the commission received massive pushback regarding the name, with critics arguing that using the ‘TRS’ acronym causes immense public confusion given its historic association with the state’s regional movement.
Responding to the directive, Kavitha acknowledged receipt of the ECI’s letter but remained defiant. While confirming that her team had addressed two specific objections raised by the panel, she emphasised that they will not be submitting any alternative name suggestions. Choosing confrontation over compliance, Kavitha stated that her party is prepared to legally challenge the ECI’s order in court to protect its identity.
