Hyderabad, Dec.5 (NSS): BRS senior leader Dasoju Sravan today condemned the unlawful arrests of Harish Rao and Kaushik Reddy. He said the BRS party strongly condemns the Telangana government’s actions aimed at suppressing democratic rights. He criticized the government for filing false cases against Opposition leaders to dismantle democracy in the State.
Stating that Kaushik Reddy’s arrest was a heinous act, Sravan called the police’s unauthorized entry into the residence of Huzurabad MLA Kaushik Reddy, breaking doors and arresting him, a blatant example of the dictatorial regime under Revanth Reddy’s administration. He questioned whether raising concerns against the government’s failures had become a crime and accused the government of targeting Kaushik Reddy out of vengeance since he raised alarms about phone tapping.
Sravan alleged that the government is orchestrating conspiracies against former minister Harish Rao, undermining democratic institutions and fuelling public outrage. He condemned the filing of multiple cases against Harish Rao based on a fraudulent complaint and described it as a planned attempt to imprison him. He also stated that the actions are not just personal attacks, but part of a larger conspiracy against the BRS party itself.
Sravan highlighted that Telangana has reached a state where citizens and Opposition parties are losing their right to question. Opposition leaders, MLAs and MLCs questioning the government are being subjected to arrests, an act of disgrace to democracy. He also accused the Chief Minister of silencing people’s voices and undermining democratic values.
Sravan pointed out that whenever questions are raised about the unfulfilled promises of six guarantees, the government resorts to filing false cases and using police to suppress dissent. He emphasized that questioning the government’s failure to implement guarantees even after a year is justified and condemned the government’s retaliatory arrests as anti-democratic.
Sravan urged the people of Telangana to rise against these injustices. He criticized the misuse of police forces to intimidate and conspire against the Opposition and called for strong resistance to such acts. He stressed the need for citizens to act and teach the government a lesson, asserting that the time to defend democracy has arrived.
Dr Sravan said the BRS party vehemently condemns unlawful actions and calls upon the people to unite in defence of democracy. The party urged citizens to stand together and give a befitting response to this authoritarian government. He expressed confidence that the people will soon teach the Congress government an appropriate lesson.
Former BC Commission member Upender, Manne Govardhan Reddy, Rajitha Reddy, and others participated in the press meet.
