Hyderabad/New Delhi, June 27 (RAHNUMA): US President Donald Trump has thanked India after a prominent road adjoining the US Consulate in Hyderabad was officially named “Donald Trump Avenue”. The road, located in the Financial District near Gachibowli and Nanakramguda, was renamed as part of the Freedom 250 celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The commemorative plaque was jointly unveiled by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor during a gala reception held on June 23. Telangana officials said the initiative reflects Hyderabad’s growing role in strengthening India-US relations and its position as a major global technology hub.
Reacting to the development on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump expressed gratitude and described the gesture as an ‘unprecedented honour’. Sharing a photograph from the unveiling ceremony, he wrote: “The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India — The first U.S. President to ever be honored in this way. Thank you!”
The newly named avenue runs adjacent to the US Consulate and is located near offices of major American technology companies, including Microsoft, Google and Amazon. The move has attracted widespread attention both internationally and within India, generating discussion across political circles and social media. While supporters view it as a symbolic recognition of India-US ties, some political parties have criticized the decision.
Trump’s public acknowledgment has further amplified global interest in the development, making Hyderabad’s “Donald Trump Avenue” one of the most talked-about diplomatic gestures linked to the Freedom 250 celebrations.
