Khammam, Sept.3 (NSS): Former minister and MLA Harish Rao, with impassioned fervor, has castigated the Congress government for its abject failure to extend a helping hand to the flood victims in Khammam district.
Addressing the media at the BRS party office here on Tuesday, Harish Rao’s words bore the weight of the people’s anguish.
Reflecting on the devastation, he lamented, “For the past three to four days, relentless rains have lashed our state, and Khammam has borne the brunt of nature’s fury. The downpour has unleashed untold misery upon Suryapet, Khammam, Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad districts, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. The loss of lives, property, and precious crops has been catastrophic, yet the government stands accused of a monumental failure in flood prevention.”
Condemning its lackluster response, Harish Rao said,” “The government’s gross negligence in alerting the populace to the impending deluge has resulted in widespread tragedy. The scale of destruction—both in terms of life and property—could have been mitigated if only the administration had acted with due diligence.”
Standing resolute with his party’s leaders—Sabitha Indra Reddy, Puvvada Ajay, Jagadish Reddy, Ravichandra, Nama Nageswara Rao, Vivekananda Goud, Kaushik Reddy, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, and Shambhipur Raju, Harish Rao pledged the BRS party’s unwavering support to the flood-ravaged citizens.
“We have come to Khammam, not just to bear witness, but to offer solace and assistance. Former MLA Upender Reddy has already provided aid to the stricken in Paleru, while Puvvada Ajay is tirelessly distributing essential commodities across the divisions of Khammam district.”
As he moved through the flood-stricken areas of Karunagiri Rajiv Gruhakalpa, Venkateswara Nagar, Kalukoddu, and Bokkalagadda, Rao’s heart was heavy with sorrow. The scenes of suffering etched themselves into his memory. He recounted the pitiful sight of children bereft of milk, and the scarcity of drinking water that compounded their woes. “The government’s failure to ensure even the most basic of sustenance is a damning indictment of its ineptitude.”
Drawing a stark contrast to the previous BRS government, Harish Rao reminisced, “In our time, precautionary measures were communicated with urgency, even over loudspeakers, ensuring the people were prepared. Back then, we received the cooperation necessary to safeguard lives. Under this Congress regime, however, not even a single helicopter was dispatched to aid the victims. The people were left to fend for themselves, their cries for help unanswered.”
Harish Rao’s voice cracked with emotion as he recounted the heartrending stories of those he encountered.
