Hyderabad, Jan.27 (RAHNUMA): The third day of the 14th National Conference of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) witnessed intense discussions on strengthening the organisation to expand campaigns against the corporate-Hindutva nexus.
Women delegates from different states deliberated on the “Report on Work and Organisation”, presented by the General Secretary on the previous day. The discussions focused on building a stronger, more effective organisation to address growing challenges to women’s rights.
Addressing the conference, A. Vijayaraghavan, National President of the All India Agriculture Workers’ Union (AIAWU), said women were the worst affected by the dilution of MGNREGA and the passage of the VB-GRAM-G Act. He expressed hope that AIDWA and AIAWU would work together to resist attacks on women’s rights.
On the occasion, AIDWA released seven publications highlighting women’s struggles, history, and movements, including reports on rising indebtedness, biographies, translations of key documents, and booklets on women’s role in social reform and the Telangana Armed Struggle.
According to president PK Sreemathi, the conference passed nine resolutions which included “Opposition to saffronisation, commercialisation, and centralisation of higher education”; Repeal of anti-women labour codes and National Labour Policy 2025; Ensuring safe and affordable credit for women; Recognition of Kerala LDF government’s initiatives for women; Demands for climate justice and protection of Adivasi rights; Ensuring dignity and justice for Dalit women; Opposition to school closures and privatisation of health services.
The second and third days concluded with vibrant cultural programmes that energised the delegates.
