Amaravati, Aug.9 (NSS): After the YSRCP’s (YSR Congress) defeat in the Andhra Pradesh elections, the party is facing all the setbacks. Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was trying hard to get the party on track got a rude shock from the party leaders. Tens of thousands of prominent leaders have resigned and joined the ruling TDP, Janasena and BJP while others are waiting for a good day to resign and cover the NDA parties ‘scarf’.
In a fresh development, Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Alla Nani), a senior leader and a close confidante of Jagan, resigned from the party and exploded the bomb. Alla Nani, who is the biggest face of YSRCP in the combined West Godavari district, has said goodbye to the party. Alla has also resigned from the post of Eluru district party president and constituency in-charge. He said he was resigning due to personal reasons.
He made it clear that he had decided to stay away from direct politics from now on. Nani has sent his resignation letter to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in this regard. There is a lot of propaganda in YSRCP circles that Nani is unhappy with the developments in the party in the last few days. His main followers and the second-rung leaders have not responded anywhere on the development. Will the YSRCP high command accept the resignation or will YS Jagan pacify him by summoning him to Tadepalli Palace is the big question that is doing the rounds of the party circles.
Nani was a four-time MLA. In the 2004 and 2009 elections, he contested on a Congress ticket and won. After YSR’s death, he joined the YSR Congress Party in the presence of YS Jagan. Nani, who contested for the first time on behalf of the YSRCP in the 2014 elections, was defeated by TDP candidate Badeti Kota Rama Rao. In 2017, he was given the post of MLC as he was close to YSR’s family.
In the 2019 elections, Nani contested from the same constituency. He won by a margin of 4,072 votes. The YSRCP also came to power with 151 seats and he was inducted into the cabinet. Apart from the post of deputy chief minister, he also became the minister for health, family welfare and health. In the 2024 elections, Nani lost badly. Initially, he participated in the party programmes but stayed away from them after some time.
