Hyderabad, Sept.12 (NSS): CPI State secretary Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao today said CPM leader Sitaram Yechury’s death was an irreparable loss to the Communist movement of India. He also said the State committee of CPI was expressing its deepest condolences on his death.
Koonamneni said, “Yechuri made great contributions to the movement of the CPI(M) and Communist Party. His death is a huge loss not only to the CPM, but also to the Communist movement. A voice that speaks of people’s and country’s issues has been silenced,” he said.
Meanwhile, another leader of CPI Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy said the news of the demise of Comrade Sitaram Yechury, was deeply saddening. Sitaram Yechury first studied at Nizam’s College in Hyderabad. He was able to speak in Telugu, English, Hindu, Tamil, Bengali and other languages. He had a deep understanding of the Marxist theory. Both of us participated in the Silk Route International Conference in China along with other political party leaders from our country. In 2004, when the Left parties supported the Congress at the Centre, comrades Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechury, A B Bardhan and D Raja worked together in preparing the Common Minimum Programme. After becoming the general secretary, he did a good job of expanding and strengthening the unity of the Left parties. His death is a serious loss to the CPM party and the Communist movement of India. Expressing my deep condolence on his death, I convey my heartfelt condolences to his wife, family members and party colleagues,” he said.
